pub struct PixGateBlockEpisode {
reason: GateBlockReason,
began: Instant,
}Expand description
One episode of PIX egress being blocked, measured from first refusal until it ends.
§Why an episode rather than a refusal
A blocked gate is polled again by whatever is trying to send, so counting refusals would measure how hard the caller retries rather than how long the Exit was stalled — the issue’s “a tight retry loop must not increment blocked on every failed poll”. The entry into the blocked state is counted once, here, and how long it lasted is measured separately.
§Why Drop
The episode ends three ways, and only one of them is a return value: the gate resumes and the
parked writer proceeds, the gate is poisoned and the writer fails, or the whole future is
dropped because the Session was torn down underneath it. Drop is the one mechanism that covers
all three, which is what makes “block timers close exactly once on every terminal path” hold
without any of those paths having to remember.
