enum EventScope {
Everything,
EdgesOnly,
}Expand description
How much of a latched batch a publish may emit.
The worker drains PixTurnEvents from the supervisor and then calls
publish, so a release from close_session — which runs on
the manager’s task, not the worker’s — can land between the two. The batch is in the worker’s
hand at that point and the supervisor’s latch is already empty, so whatever the publish declines
to emit is gone for good. This decides what “declines to emit” means.
Variants§
Everything
All of it. The census is live and moves with the batch, so the two agree by construction.
EdgesOnly
Only the parts nothing reads back.
release has already charged this Session’s outstanding cycles from its last census, so
anything that speaks about which cycles ended and how must be left to it or the same cycle
is accounted twice. That rules out the census-coupled
counts and the per-cycle summaries, whose outcome would otherwise be free to contradict the
count that retired the cycle.
What survives is everything that is only ever a rate: committed and funded, which are
edges between census buckets rather than entries or exits, and the share arrivals. Dropping
those would understate throughput at teardown for nothing — no gauge and no invariant reads
them, so there is no second copy for them to disagree with.
